He noted that if the government really wants to attract more medical practitioners to the state, there is need for a massive rebate for all medical practitioners so that they will enjoy their benefits accordingly.
He maintained that the right emoluments will spur practitioners to give in their bests at all times adding that multiple taxation is an inhibition to the very practice of medicine.
Dr Ramat also said that the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) has been involved in heap transfers and are set do more to keep patients alive and comfortable.
“The total heap transfer that was done in the trauma centre was at N1. 5m and we are set to do more to keep people alive and comfortable.
On Challenges with insurgency still surrounding the state and improvised explosive Devices (IED) killing people, he said that every young doctor is ambitious and that is why Insecurity should be handled quickly so that they don’t loose their lives or leave the theatre out of discouragement.
On electricity supplies to carry out vital operations in general and tertiary facilities, he said we want supplies to be available at both the hospital and the College level especially in the case of Umth were management is training doctors, “We want management to do what they can to fix electricity especially for operations “
“Doctors in Borno should get better allowances than any other side. They must fix additional allowances for doctors.
” We have always dreamt of an NMA village for doctors but above all we call on the state government to work on the income tax system of the state. We want to have tax rebates.” Said Ramat.
