Borno: NGO organises town hall meeting for community leader, stakeholders on accountability

A non-governmental organisation, Follow The Money(FTM) has trained community leaders and stakeholders to enable them demands for social accountability and improving health care services delivery in Jere local government area of Borno state.

The Borno State Lead FTM, Musa Gambo disclose this during a one-day town hall meeting organised for the community leaders and relevant stakeholders held at Dalaram community of old Maiduguri Jere LGA of the state.

According to him, the report was aimed to draw the attention of duty bearers and advocate for government and relevant stakeholders for social accountability as well as change while improving service delivery to the affected population.

“First of all, the meeting was held in order to educate and improve awareness on what is expected of community leaders and relevant stakeholders in Jere LGA.

“Also, this is a ground provided by the organisation to increase awareness of the public and empower citizens to demand accountability and improved health care service delivery using evidence based approaches through the report generated.” Gambo said.

He noted that the outcome of the research conducted by the organisation have been since shared with the Borno state primary health care development agency.

He stressed that the objective was assess the COVID-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) after conducting a survey on selects Public Healthcare  (PHCs) with respect to personnel, WASH, Capacity, Covid-19 vaccinations and information on how COVID-19 funds were being used by duty bearers.
