Borno: Red Cross elects Mali Gubio as chair, others

The Nigerian Red Cross Society Borno State branch has elected the elder stateman Mali Gubio as his Chairman to pillot its activities in the state.

Speaking shortly after election in Maiduguri, the National President of the Nigerian Redcross Society who was represented by its National Legal Adviser, Barr. Muazu Muhammed Dikwa commended the state branch for their commitment to serving humanity and their exceptional demonstration of peaceful conduct and team spirit.

“Borno branch is among the leading branches, being one of the epicenter of insurgency and other natural disasters. This branch has done alot and that is why all the principals of its partners here are fully represented” Barr Muazu said.

He urged the new executives to be proactive and be good leaders leading by examples worthy of emulation by all and sundry.

Barr Muazu admonished the new excos to united all staff and volunteers of the society in the state along in their operations and activities.

Those who elected include Dr Bulama Mali Gubio as the Chairman and Muhammed Kauji as the Vice Chairman of the Society.

Others including Alhaji Abba Butu Monguno as Disaster Management Adviser, Hajiya Fati Audu Yusuf as Communication Adviser, Sadiq Abubakar Muazu as the Youth Adviser, Comrade Bulama Abiso as Program Planning Adviser, Hajiya Fusam Nganran as Resource Management Adviser.

Also, Madam Naomi Abwaku as Capacity Development Adviser, Hajiya Naijat Ali as Property Management Adviser, Sheikh Abba Al-amin Banki as Divisional Adviser, Barrister Bukar Modu Mustapha as Legal Adviser and Dr. Muhammed Ghuluze as Health Adviser.

On his part, the State Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Musa Boyi pledged support to the activities of the society with the state and its environs “we have always been partners, and we will continue to give our maximum support to your operations” he said.

Those who present at the events include Red Cross partners, representatives of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), National Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Police Force.

Branch Secretary Nigerian Red Cross Society Borno State urged the stakeholders to look inward to generate the funding to sustain the activities of the branch.

“Like, I said earlier it is difficult for us now; ICRC is our sole funders and they have cut down their funding to 9 centers in the state due to the ongoing war Gaza because their attention has been shifted to the Gaza.

“I know we have the capacity and manpower so we need to look inward to generate income to fund our activities,”he said.
