Borno residents celebrate Troops for repelling terrorists in Mafa

Hundreds of residents in Mafa town which is the headquarters of Mafa council area of Borno State came out to celebrate the military for the repulsion of insurgents who tried to infiltrate the town on Sunday morning.

This is because the military under operation Hadin Kai had averted a major tragedy if the insurgents had been allowed to get their way by barging into their base where e results of the Governorship and State Assembly election from that council area were being coordinated.

The residents were actually celebrating because by 2am on Sunday morning when the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were collating results from all the wards of the council areas, the Islamic State of West Africa Province ( ISWAP) dared to distabilise them in the collation Centre to destroy any evidence that an election took place there.

But sources told newsmen that both ground and air troops promptly descended on them and took them out leaving at least 60 of the insurgents instantly wiped out.

Intelligence sources said that the terrorists who stormed Mafa Town in gun trucks and motorcycles that wee hours of the morning and headed towards the military base where in their hundreds hoping that they will over power the security operatives.

” So you can see why our people were happy with the troops. Mafa is the hometown of the Governor and its a peaceful place. Our resistance is high now and never again will they humiliate us as they used to before.

Attempts to get the spokesperson of Operation Hadin Kai Theater Command office Major Zakhom to comment was futile as he could not be reached by phone as at the time of writing this report.
