Long queues and closed filling stations in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Wednesday have brought back memories of Jonathan’s administration under Buhari’s regime.
NEWSng reports that many citizens who woke up to this new reality said they never thought they could see a return of petroleum products queue as in those dreaded days.
According to the residents of Borno state who spoke to NEWSng, they said it is time for Nigerians to understand that no leader has made a clear effort towards ending the petroleum crisis in Nigeria.
“We produce these products yet we suffer under successive regimes. Only yesterday I was arguing with my friend that the story we are hearing in Lagos and Abuja about the return of the petroleum queue as experienced in the Jonathan’s administration would not come to our side.
“I woke up this morning as if I was only dreaming. The long queues which started in some parts of the metropolis last week have persisted up until Wednesday. The situation looked as if some petrol stations were hoarding fuel in anticipation of an increase in the pump price.
“This pathetic situation has left many residents stranded, specifically schools children, traders and workers as many have resorted to trekking to their places of work or destinations not minding the distance in the wake of the fuel scarcity that we now saw under this regime.
“With this situation, we can no longer make reference to Jonathan’s administration as we already have a case study right here to tell many stories about the failures of the Government.” Ibrahim Kalli told our Correspondent.

NEWSng reports that earlier this week some filling stations in Maiduguri are selling the fuel at N250 per litre. However, as of today some are selling between N300 and N 350 while black market price has hit N500 per litre of the volume.
“The scarcity of fuel since last week started when the issue of adulterated or bad fuel was said to have been in circulation due to the high quantity of methanol discovered in the fuel in circulation across the country. Although the government has ordered for the withdrawal of such fuel, there are still reports of such fuel in circulation.
“Also buying or lifting fuel from the depot became a difficult thing as a result of serious monitoring, checking and delay due to long processes. Maiduguri is about a distance of 1600km from where fuel is being lifted. For dealers to get fuel and transport it to the filling station and upload it for the motorists, it takes time. This has increased the need for fuel and informed the current situation.” Alhaji Umar Manager, a staff of one of the station in Maiduguri told NEWSng in a brief interview
