Borno State House of Assembly Passes Supplementary Budget

On October 8, 2024, the Borno State House of Assembly approved a supplementary budget of sixty-one billion naira, presented by Governor Umara, to address the damages caused by recent flooding in the state.
The budget report was delivered by Hon. Mustapha Ali Benisheikh, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation. Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Abdulkarim Lawan presided over the session and directed the Clerk of the House, Gogo Abdullahi, to outline the agenda for deliberations.
Following a motion by the House Leader, Hon. Dige Mohammed, members convened as a committee of supply to review the report, which was seconded by Hon. Audu Mustapha. Upon resumption, Speaker Lawan announced the approval of the supplementary budget.
The total funding includes twenty billion naira from the state government and forty-one billion naira from various MDAs, amounting to a total of sixty-one billion naira for relief efforts.
The House adjourned until Thursday, October 10.
Additionally, Speaker Lawan, accompanied by other members, visited the remodeled Borno State Assembly Service Commission. Chairman Ali Bulama Yajiwa expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for the renovation funding and acknowledged the assembly’s support.
