The Borno State University BOSU, will soon commence courses in Arabic Language and History.
Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Dlakwa, disclosed this when a delegation from The Department of Human kinetics, Health Education and Promotion, University of Maiduguri paid him a courtesy call in his office on Thursday.
The delegation led by Prof. Stephen Hammafyelto, were in BOSU to congratulate the Ag. VC over his appointment, as well as present a proposal for the establishment of the Department in BOSU.
Prof. Hammafyelto said, the propossl is necessary so, as to reduce the pressure on the department at UNIMAID.
He laments that, presently, the department at UNIMAID, is overwhelmed by lack of adequate staff which stands at only twenty seven, inadequate facilities as well as overwhelming students population which stands at over a thousand.
He expresses hope that, if the department is introduced in BOSU, it will help a lot in off loading some of the students thereby doing a great service to the region as most of the students offering the course are from this part of the country.
Responding, BOSU Ag. VC Prof. Haruna Dlakwa welcomed the idea and thankef them for the proposal, which according to him,has made the job easier as it is already half way done.
He pledged to liaise with the Director Academic Planning BOSU, to fast track as well as seek approval from the National Universities Commission, so that the Department of Human kinetics, Health Education and Promotion, can come on stream by the 2025-2026 Academic Session adding that ‘the propossl, will be followed with due diligence’.
