A Kaduna bound train carrying 970 passengers from Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital has been demobilised by Bandits operating around the Dutse area about a few kilometers to the train station at Rigasa in Igabi local government area of Kaduna state in North Central Nigeria.
This attack is coming about 48 hours after reports said bandits took over the runway at the Kaduna AirPort denying flight takeoff and killing a security official at the airport.
The attack on the Kaduna bound train left a number of passengers dead and hundreds of others abducted by the bandits who made their way into the train and operated for about two hours before the military arrived at the scene.
Passengers, who spoke to NEWSng early hours of Tuesday, said the incident happened on Monday night.
According to a passenger, Gambo Ibrahim who sustained minor injured from a gunshot, the bandits bomb the rail track forcing the train to derail.

“They came from all sides afterwards and fired at the train. We all lay down in our couches to avoid the bullets. I thought we were safe as I thought the train is bullet proof and they cannot have their way inside the train but I was wrong.
“They kill two people and a bullet hits my arm. I think they thought I was dead because they evacuated passengers on my couch and took them away before the soldiers arrived.” Gambo said.
Another passenger also confirmed in a telephone call that the attackers surrounded the train, shooting sporadically.
“All the passengers lay on the floor of the train. The bandits were shooting sporadically and the few security Operatives inside the train could not do anything. I saw a policeman remove his uniform and hide his gun as we were lying on the floor of the train.
” It is not a pleasant situation at all. They operated unchallenged and took as many passengers as they could take. They were even selective in their picking as they had all the time before the soldiers arrived.” He said.
For now, nobody knows how many passengers were taken and the number of deaths following this attack. The soldiers who arrived shortly after the bandits left could not do anything but to secure the train and the remaining terrifying passengers.
