Breaking… President Buhari sacks two Ministers, As CBN appoints new Directors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday sacked the Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono, and the Minister of Power, Mamman Sale. 

This is the first time the President is taking such action since over six years he took over government.

 Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, announced this at a briefing in the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.

He said the duo have been replaced with the Ministers of Environment, Mohammed Mahmoud Abubakar, and Minister of State, Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu .

“The Minister of Environment, Mohammed Mahmoud Abubakar takes over Agriculture, while Abubakar Aliu Minister of State for Works takes over from Mamman Sale as the Minister of Power.” He said

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced the appointment of new directors as the heads of its various departments.I

In a circular, the apex bank announced Mr Osita Nwanisobi as its Director, Corporate Communications Department, with effect from August 25, 2021.

The appointment of Nwanisobi who all along was in an acting capacity since October 2020, when his predecessor, Isaac Okorafor retired from service.

NEWSng reports that also appointed Directors are Mrs Elizabeth Omolara Fasoranti, who steps in as the Director, Branch Operations; Dr Abdulkadir Abdullahi Jibril as Director, Medical Services and Mrs Rashidat Jumoke Monguno, who now directs affairs in the Consumer Protection Department (CPD).

Other appointments include those of Mrs Amina Habib, who is now the Director, Human Resources Department; Dr Blaise Ijebor, Director, Risk Management; Mr Chibuzo Anthony Efobi, Director, Financial Policy and Regulation and Mr Benjamin Nnadi, who assumes the position of Director, Reserve Management.
