Buni Commends Executive Council, Approve Over N 7 Billion For Projects In Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has commended members of the council for their individual and collective effort in ensuring the smooth functioning of the government and the delivery of social services to the people of the state.
Buni made the commendation on Tuesday when he led a meeting of the state executive council to deliberate on issues affecting the wellbeing of the people and their welfare.
Briefing Journalists on the outcome of the EXCO, the Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego said, the council in session approved and ratified many projects and services to the tune of #7,022,754,651.11.
“The council ratified the approval of the sum of #1,202,406,208.99 for the supply of medical equipment and furniture for the Medical College of the Yobe State University and the procurement of electronic medical records and the training of staff at the Yobe State Teaching Hospital and the specialist hospitals in Damaturu, Potiskum, and Gashu’a.
“The council also ratified the sum of#327, 140,666.27 for the construction of 200 bed capacity isolation center and a one-story building consisting of 30 room apartment house officers’ quarters at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital.” He said

Bego further said, the council has also ratified the sum of#145,648,719.88 for the procurement of additional equipment and gear for the synchronisation and digitalization of the Yobe Radio FM/AM services, in addition, the council has also ratified the sum #765 million for the procurement of 20 units of Toyota Land Cruiser V6 Vehicles for vigilante group in the state to facilitate their security patrol and movement.
“The sum of #278,591,277.03 was ratified for the remodelling and conversion of the three-star hotel, Damaturu into the Clinical Section of the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital to covers the supply of furniture for use in the clinical section, in addition the sum of#1,711,980,083.27 for additional works on the construction of 25.5 kilometer dual carriage way from Damaturu to Kalallawa village where the International Cargo Airport is located.” Abdullahi Bego said.
“The council also approved the sum of#288,998,270.00 for the construction of 1.5 km road and 3.0 km concrete drains through direct labour at the Dr Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu, and in addition, the sum of#169,041,071.35 was approved for the rehabilitation of Kaliyari- Bayamari road through direct labour as well as the rehabilitation of the Jakusko-Garin Alkali road at the cost of#219,698,226.92.” he added
According to the Commissioner, the council approved the sum of#688,617,273.06 for the procurement and installation of runway lighting system at the Damaturu International Cargo Airport and the sum of#1,225,632,904.34 for revised additional works on the Nguru Mordern Market project.
The council also approved the change of name of the Ministry of Higher Education to the Higher Education, Science and Technology as well as approved a new logo for the state, the logo represents the history, culture and socio-economic outlook of the state, it will be unveiled at a later date.
