Buni empowers 500 youths in rural communities in Yobe

By: Yahaya WakiliIn its effort towards driving employment generation and wealth creation, Yobe state government has inaugurate the distribution of empowerment materials provided by the Ministry of Wealth Creation in collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Flagging-off the distribution, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has said that our drive in the various empowerment packages would speed up our post-insurgency recovery and wealth creation for stability and prosperity.

According to him, today we are distributing 1,900 irrigation water pumps and accessories, 125 commercial pick-up Tricycles also known as JEGA and 125 commercial or KEKE NAPEP.

“In addition about 500 youth from rural communities would be empowered and supported with skill acquisition materials such as sewing machines, barbing salon kits, pasta-making machines and hairdressing materials.” He added.

Governor Buni urged the beneficiaries to ensure they put the items to proper use avoid selling them and appreciate government efforts and be on the same page with us in the right against poverty, adding that, government has set some machineries in place to monitor the beneficiaries in their various trades.

He said, this is in conformity with the maxim of teaching the people “how to catch fish” rather than making them depend on a “fish handout.”

The governor also call on the good people of Yobe state to pray for a very successful inauguration here at home and at the national level as well as pray for a bumper harvest and the prosperity of our dear state and country at large.

Speaking earlier, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego said giving the empowerment support to the people of Yobe state is an integral part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration socio economic agenda.

He maintained that the empowerment is largely to support small scale businesses and small business individuals.

Bego also called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment materials giving to them for the purpose intended.
