Buni reiterates commitment to urban renewal in Yobe

The Yobe state governor, Hon, Mai Mala Buni CON has reiterated the commitment of his administration towards the urban renewal of Damaturu, the state capital.
In a press released issue and signed by Alhaji Buba Garba Lawan senior special Assistant on Media to Governor Mai Mala Buni made available to newsmen in Damaturu.
Governor Buni made the reveallation through the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Umaru Wakil Duddaye during the signing of contract for the construction of Damaturu city-centre flyover bridge between Yobe state government and Triacta Nigeria Company, in Damaturu recently.
Governor Buni explained that the construction of the flyover bridge would upgrade the status of Damaturu into a befitting state capital, adding that the scenic architectural aesthetic beauty would uplift the standards of Damaturu into a modern cosmopolitan city.
Hon. Mai Mala Buni maintained that the construction of this vital infrastructural facility would accelerate the rapid urban development as well as tackle the current trend of ever-growing connubation with the adjoining suburb settlements with Damaturu, the city center.
Governor Buni stated that the urbanization of Damaturu as the state capital and major towns of Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, Gaidam, and Buni requires access to township roads and drainage so as to curb the current perennial flooding, gully erosion, and environmental phenomenon that poses a threat to human habitation.
To this end, the Yobe state government signed the contract for the construction of the Damaturu flyover bridge project at the city center of Damaturu at the cost of #22.3bn to ease vehicular movements on highways linking the city center of Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
