Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has warned that the government will not condone any act capable of breaching public peace in the state.
Governor Buni gave a warning in a press release issued and signed by the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, saying the government will not compromise the safety and security of its citizens for anything.
According to him, the government shall stand firm against anything and anyone that disrupts the relative peace and harmony enjoyed across the state.
Adding to that, “we are receiving a protracted security challenge. We must avoid any issue capable of threatening our hard-earned peace.”
“We have had a very bitter experience of breaches of peace for quite a long time in the state. We cannot afford to have any more.
Governor Buni also admonished parents and guardians to advise their wards on the danger of causing disaffection and disrupting public peace, saying that the government would deal with anyone who constituted a threat to public peace.
He charged members of organizations and associations to always channel their grievances through constituted authorities and to not in any way take the laws into their own hands.
Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the heads of security agencies, the Yobe State Road Transport Agency (YOROTA), and the leadership of the Tricycle (KEKE Napep) Commercial Operators Association to draw clear, unambiguous, additional measures that guarantee the security of the citizens and to improve the operations of Tricycle commercial operators across the state.
He said the measures should resolve all areas of differences between Keke Napep operators, YOROTA, and security agencies to improve safety and harmony among road users and regulators.
