The Chairman of the Nigerian Legions Yobe State Chapter, Capt. Ibrahim Ladi Gadini (Rtd), has appealed to the general public to assist the legions in the state.
Capt. Ibrahim Ladi Gadini Rtd made a call in an interview with journalists shortly after laying wealth on our fallen heroes to mark the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at Government House, Damaturu.
He said our members are facing a lot of challenges, and one of the things that is essential to life is shelter. We still have many of our members who are still living in rented houses, so this is one of the biggest problems.
“Another one is the escalation of the prices of things; their take-off pensions are almost nothing to talk about, so if you look at this thing, the burden of training their children and grandchildren is a great problem to us.” Capt. Gadini said.
“Sometimes, we discovered that during the rainy season, the rain storm used to demolish the small houses they’re occupied, so for that reason, the legion has to come up with whether or not the legion has a little money or not. Therefore, we have to go around to see that we provide shelter for these old men.”
According to him, “you are emerging a person who is above 80 years old, and now you ask him to take care of about 8 children’s and grant children you know is very hard or for him to wake up and do some work, he cannot do it because already his sense is not there.
