According to Haijiya Zuwaira, “For us in Borno state it has been a wonderful experience and a very good opportunity for the children of Borno state. This Child Rights Act is necessary and the time is now especially as we are returning back to full time peace in Borno state.

“You can see that our internally displaced persons are going back to their homes. There has been general peace. So, what next? A normal life and opportunity for the children to be part of the developmental initiative of the Zulum administration in the state. And so, putting this child’s right act into being domesticated is the best thing that has happened to Borno state throughout this year.

“You can see that the entire leadership of the Borno state House of Assembly is here. You could see that the dedication and the zeal to see that this act or bill is passed or is being domesticated is on everyone’s face.”

The Commissioner said this is the first time such an act is being domesticated. Adding that without the backing of the law the act cannot be implemented.

“So, by passing this bill automatically every child of Borno will benefit from the developmental success that came with such a law”. She said.
