Clash Between Fulani and Hunters Leads to Fatality in Kaduna

A fatal clash between Fulani herders and hunters in Gidan Ori Kajan Village, Matari, Kaduna State, has resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man, Haladu Saidu.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on May 3, 2025, when a group of hunters, reportedly from Wucicciri Village, Zaria, armed with sticks, swords, cutlasses, and accompanied by dogs, stormed the Fulani settlement in Gidan Ori Kajan.

The altercation, believed to have stemmed from an ongoing dispute, led to Saidu being struck on the head. He was rushed to the Maigana Health Center, where he was confirmed dead. On the family’s request, the body was released for burial according to Islamic rites without a post-mortem examination.

Following the incident, police in Maigana, led by the DPO, arrested five individuals in connection with the killing.

The suspects, identified as Abdulaziz Magaji (25), Kamaludin Abubakar (33), Ali Idris (36), Saminu Dahiru (25), and Jamilu Umar (26), all of Wucicciri Village, are currently under investigation.
