Constituency: Hon. Usman Zannah Pitched Tent with Victims of Flood in Borno

Residents of Kaga, Guio and Magumeri federal constituency in Borno state, northeast Nigeria have praised the action taken by the Member of Parliament representing them at the green Chamber in the National Assembly, when he pitched tents with flood victims around his constituency as a milestone in his political relationship with the people. They claim that Hon. Usman Zannah was a populist politician who always ate dinner with his constituents during both happy and sad occasions. The locals’ told NEWSng that they were not surprised to see him arrive as the first guest during the flood crisis.
“Only someone with a heart for home will always look back to know what is going on at the home front, especially with hundreds of communities being devastated by flood this year,” Soon after Hon. Usman Zannah’s visit, a community leader in Borno state’s Kaga local government area made the statement.
While his visit has lifted many to a high spirit with hopes, Hon. Usman Zannah told the people that whatever he has done or is doing to the people of his constituency was in fulfilment of the trust they reposed on him. “I was also only complimenting the efforts of the Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.” The member representing Kaga, Gubio and Magumeri had said during the visit.

It was a long drive into the hinterlands, a journey of 98 kilometres or about 62miles on security dreaded lines owing to a decade of insurgency in the northeast and Borno state the bearer of history in the last 12 or about 13 years from the cry. Many would have taken excuses of the realities and it will be well placed but Hon. Usman Zannah is such that have rooted his beliefs in going with the people all the way.
Adding to the flesh of this trip, the member representing Kaga in the Borno state house of assembly, Hon. Mustapha Alibe said, the 2022 flood disaster has been a lot of concern and sadness to many communities of which Kaga is one of such who are calling for assistance at this time. According to him, the show of love by the member representing his constituency at the National Assembly is one that shows a relationship that has existed through a long political history.
“Aside the support for the victims, his presence to see for himself speaks volumes. Although this has been how he gets involved with the people there are thousands of reasons he could have put forward knowing what has been going on along the highways especially leading to the areas of his visit, but he risks it.” Mustapha Alibe said.
Travelling to Ngamdu, Mainok and Benisheikh for those who understand the trend and history since the outbreak of law and order as a result of the ongoing insurgency in Borno state can tell a story only of nightmares. However, a politician in the like of Hon. Usman Zannah grassrooting has been his style since his time as chairman of Magumeri local government area of Borno state.
Bunu Goniri, the Chairman of Kaga local government shares the mind of the people on their representative at the green chambers. According to him, there are many projects that the constituency would always speak about. One of them is the water project, which he said has been a solution they had for years been expecting as their people travelled long distances in search of water especially during the dry season.
According to him, “During the visit by the federal lawmaker, we also inspected the areas affected by the flood including the road linking Ngamdu, Warsala and Damaturu in Yobe state, which was disconnected as a result of the flood. This was to enable the member to have firsthand information of the situation, so that when he returns to Abuja, he can record what he has seen and heard from the people he is representing and make a better case for them.”
The Chairman of the APC in Kaga local government area, Alhaji Gundiri as well as other local leaders who spoke on the visit extol the virtue of leadership in Hon. Usman Zannah described him as a politician with a big dream for his people. Hon. Usman Zannah was also called ‘Kau Zulum.’ by the people expressing his support, stand and loyalty to the Zulum administration in Borno state.
