The Yobe state police command has rescued a toddler from kidnappers den and apprehended the gang leader, whereas CP lauded efforts of personnel and directed them to hunt down the fleeing perpetrators and bring them to book.

Police personnel from Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters while responding to a distress call that, on 12th May 2024, at about 1300hrs Armed men intruded into the survivor’s resident at Bungai Village, Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA, shooting with bow and arrow and firing guns thereby threatened the inhabitants and forcefully whisked away the Toddler Adamu Sani, aged 3 years old to an unknown destination .

In the course of intensive Intelligent led operations and in collaboration with vigilantee group, the kidnappers den was discovered in Buni Yadi Town and aggressively raided the enclave date, where the gang leader, One Yau Usman was arrested in custody of the toddler, whilst other syndicates members fled as the command is in prompt pursuit.

Meanwhile, the survivor was rushed to the hospital for medical checkups. However, the suspect has been relocated to the state CID for discrete investigation, swift arrest of the fleeing culprits, and subsequent prosecution.

In this regard, The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, enjoined members of the public to remain proactive, vigilant and report suspicious movements of criminal elements, criminals identified hideout, and miscreants peddling crime to the nearest police station.

Troops Take Over Arrested Soldier Over Alleged Gunrunning and Kidnapping in Delta

Troops of 181 Amphibious Battalion have taken custody of a serving soldier allegedly arrested over gunrunning and kidnapping-related activities in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Security sources said the suspect, a senior non-commissioned officer attached to 343 Artillery Regiment, Elele in Rivers State, was earlier apprehended in Ughelli town on April 23 by security operatives.

The sources disclosed that the soldier was subsequently handed over to military authorities on April 27 for further investigation and disciplinary action.

According to the sources, preliminary allegations against the suspect include involvement in illegal arms trafficking and kidnapping activities within the general area.

They added that the suspect is currently in custody pending completion of investigations and appropriate administrative procedures, while efforts are ongoing to uncover possible accomplices and the extent of his alleged involvement.

Troops Discover 3,750 Litres of Suspected Illegal Diesel in Rivers State

Troops of LCSF/MST 1/2 have discovered about 3,750 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) at Aminigboko community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Security sources said the discovery was made at about 7:00 p.m. on April 27 during routine patrols and surveillance operations in the area.

The sources disclosed that the suspected illegally refined product was found stored in containers within the general area.

According to the sources, the items were handled in line with existing operational procedures and directives guiding the management of such recovered materials.

They added that the operation was conducted without incident, while troops continue to maintain surveillance and patrols to curb illegal oil refining activities in the area.

Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Launch Search for Missing Passenger in Kaduna

Troops of Sector 7, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have rescued a kidnapped fulani victim and launched a search operation for another passenger following an attack by suspected armed locals along a highway in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on April 27 when troops on patrol responded to reports of sporadic gunfire along the road near Ungwan Malam community.

The sources disclosed that the troops established contact with the gunmen, who abandoned their operation and fled due to the superior firepower of the soldiers.

According to the sources, one victim identified as Habibu Ibrahim, a fulani man who was rescued with gunshot wounds and immediately evacuated to Bature Hospital in Fadan Karshi for medical attention.

However, another passenger identified as Abbas Mamuda was reported missing following the attack, prompting troops to initiate search and rescue operations in the surrounding area.

The sources added that troops have intensified patrols and ongoing search efforts to locate the missing individual and prevent further criminal activities along the highway.
