Cuba Accuses US of Building ‘False Case’ for Possible Invasion Amid Rising Tensions

The Cuban government has accused the United States of fabricating allegations against Havana as a pretext for possible military aggression, following reports that Washington is increasingly concerned about Cuba’s alleged drone capabilities and growing ties with Russia and Iran.
Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, alleged that the United States was “manufacturing a fraudulent case” against Cuba in an attempt to justify tougher sanctions and heightened pressure on the Caribbean nation.
The accusation followed recent reports in American media suggesting that U.S. intelligence agencies were assessing what they described as an emerging security threat linked to Cuba’s acquisition of military drones.
According to reports, U.S. officials fear that Havana may be strengthening military cooperation with countries considered strategic rivals of Washington, including Russia and Iran.
Cuba, however, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and part of a long-standing campaign aimed at isolating the communist-led island nation.
The development marks a fresh escalation in already strained relations between United States and Cuba, amid worsening economic hardship in Cuba and renewed geopolitical rivalry involving major global powers.
Analysts say tensions between both countries have intensified in recent months following stricter U.S. sanctions, worsening fuel shortages in Cuba and increased diplomatic hostilities.
The Cuban government has repeatedly accused Washington of fueling economic suffering on the island through decades-old embargoes and restrictive measures, while the U.S. maintains that its policies are targeted at promoting democracy and human rights.
The latest dispute emerged after reports claimed that Cuba may have expanded its drone programme with external support, raising security concerns in Washington over possible threats near strategic U.S. facilities, including the Guantanamo Bay naval base.
Havana strongly denied any hostile intentions, insisting that the allegations were exaggerated to create fear and justify additional punitive actions against the country.
Observers note that the war of words comes at a delicate moment in international relations, with growing global polarization between Western powers and countries aligned with Russia and China.

Troops arrest four suspects over potato theft, raid criminal hideout in Jos South

Troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested four suspects in separate operations conducted in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that three suspects were arrested at about 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, 2026, at Latya checkpoint for allegedly stealing Irish potatoes in Doi community.
The suspects were identified as Zion Danjuma, 20; Looji Augustine, 18; and Isah Mohammed, 23.
The sources said the suspects were subsequently handed over to Keystone B Division, Bukuru, for further investigation and appropriate action.
In a separate operation at about 10:20 a.m. the same day, troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Shen village, also in Jos South LGA.
During the operation, the troops arrested a 42-year-old suspect identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi.
The suspect has been profiled by the security forces for further action as investigations continue.
The operations are part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt criminal activities and strengthen security across communities in the Jos South axis.

Two women killed, another injured in suspected armed Fulani attack in Barkin Ladi

Two women were reportedly killed while another sustained gunshot wounds in an isolated attack allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani bandits along a road in Rakung village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2026, when troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a report of an attack on three local women.
The sources said troops deployed to the location and discovered that two of the victims had been shot dead, while the third victim, identified as Mrs. Umbulet Philip, sustained gunshot wounds.
The bodies of the two deceased victims and the injured woman were evacuated to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi, for medical attention and further procedures.
Following the attack, the troops activated a manhunt for the assailants and commenced efforts to track down those responsible.
The latest incident adds to the growing security concerns in parts of Barkin Ladi, where attacks on civilians and retaliatory violence have continued to heighten tensions between communities.

DSS secures death sentence against kidnap suspect over killing of three persons in Sokoto

The Department of State Services (DSS) has secured a death sentence against Ibrahim Usman, also known as Dan Iyali, over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping and killing of three persons in Sokoto State in 2023.
Usman was prosecuted before the High Court of Justice of Sokoto State, Sokoto Judicial Division, alongside other suspects who are currently at large.
The charges brought against him included criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, culpable homicide punishable with death, and voluntarily causing grievous hurt without provocation.
The case was linked to an incident in September 2023 in which three persons were allegedly kidnapped and killed in Sokoto State.
Following the prosecution, the court found Usman liable on the charges and imposed the death penalty.
The development underscores the ongoing efforts by security and justice authorities to prosecute individuals accused of involvement in kidnapping, violent crime and other serious offences across the country.
The DSS has continued to pursue cases involving suspected terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements through the judicial process.
