DEPOT NA PASSES OUT OVER 6000 RECRUITS AS COAS CALLS FOR PROFESSIONALISM

The Nigerian Army passed out 6226 Recruits of 83 Regular Recruit Intake to enhance the manpower requirements in tackling the country’s myriad security challenges bedevilling the nation.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour, the Chief Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya asserted that the professional disposition of these young soldiers was manifested in the realistic and results-oriented training that impacted them in their 5 months sojourn which was evident in the synchronized drill, impressive display, innovation, ingenuity, turn out, and perseverance of these young soldiers during the passing out ceremony.
The COAS also said the rigorous journey of these young soldiers which commenced 5 months ago had groomed them to meet up with the contemporary security challenges saying that increase in the strength of NA personnel will add impetus to its various operations.
The COAS further urged them to be focused and not to allow ethnic and religious bigots to use them in advancing their selfish agenda. General Yahaya also charged the young soldiers who would be deployed for the 2023 elections coverage to be apolitical while discharging their constitutional responsibility.
General Yahaya reiterated that a lot was expected of these young soldiers in terms of loyalty, selfless service, integrity, courage, discipline and respect for others which are the core values of the NA.
In his words,” You are expected to uphold these values by displaying high professional and moral standards. I, therefore, urge you to retain the mental, physical and moral training you received and display it most responsively and professionally”.
General Yahaya further charged them to be good ambassadors of the NA through the display of total loyalty to the constitutional authority. He added that as the hub for the professional development of NA’s soldiers, Depot NA remains the COAS’ priority as regards infrastructural and human development stating that it was evident in the restructuring of the training environment for both staff and recruits. The COAS further pledged more support to the institution for quality training.
While reminding the young soldiers of the Oath of allegiance that was administered to them, he reaffirmed that they now acquired a special status of being subject to military and civil laws. He also warned them to avoid any act capable of tarnishing the image of the NA and the nation in general.

Army troops repel bandits in Katsina, rescue teenage girl with gunshot wound

The Nigerian Army troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in collaboration with the police repelled a bandit attack on Soro Daya village in Kankia Local Government Area.
Zagazola learn that the incident occurred at about 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 19 when suspected bandits invaded the village.
The troops were promptly mobilized to the scene. On reaching Soro Daya junction, the team was confronted by the hoodlums, leading to a heavy gun duel.
“The bandits damaged the front tyre and side glasses of a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol vehicle before retreating into the forest.
“One female victim, Nabiha Mani, aged 15, was rescued with a gunshot wound on her thigh. She was rushed to the Comprehensive Health Centre in Matazu for treatment and later referred to the Orthopaedic Hospital, Katsina, for further medical attention,” said the sources.

Troops neutralise armed militia in Plateau after failed escape attempt

Troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have neutralised an armed militia in Plateau State after he attempted to disarm a soldier during an operation.
Zagazola gathered that the incident occurred on Sept. 5 during a follow-up operation to a hideout in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
A day earlier, on Sept. 4, troops had arrested the militia at Kaskra with an AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in several criminal activities within Barkin Ladi and volunteered to lead troops to the hideout of his cohorts to recover weapons.
Sources said that while the search was ongoing at the hideout, the militia made a desperate attempt to snatch a soldier’s rifle in order to escape.
“He was swiftly overpowered and neutralised by the troops in the process,” one of the sources said.
The remains of the deceased suspect were deposited at a hospital morgue, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices and recover more weapons.
The sources reaffirmed military’s commitment to sustain the momentum against armed militias and other criminal elements in Plateau, stressing that no effort would be spared in restoring peace and stability across the Joint Operations Area.

Troops arrest terrorist informants, logistics suppliers in Sokoto

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have arrested two suspected terrorist informants and logistics suppliers in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended on Sept. 4 during a fighting patrol to Yaka village by a quick response team.
The suspects, according to the source, are in troop custody for further investigation and action.
