Dozens Killed Kano Pillars Contingent Involved in Fatal Accident on Return from National Sports Festival

Members of the Kano State contingent who participated in the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State have been involved in a fatal accident in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

Zagazola Makama that the accident occurred on their way back home after the close of the festival, which brought together athletes from across the country.

According to reports, the incident happened when the vehicle conveying the athletes fell off a bridge in the Kura area.

Sources confirmed that the bus was carrying at least 35 people at the time of the accident.

Some of the occupants were confirmed dead on the spot, while the injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Kura for medical attention.

One of the survivors, who spoke to Premier Radio 102.7 FM, described the scene as horrific and said many of the victims sustained serious injuries.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to release an official statement on the number of casualties.

Efforts to reach officials of the Kano State Sports Commission were ongoing.
