Early morning fire guts six shops in Maiduguri, destroys property worth N4.95m

A fire outbreak in the early hours of Wednesday razed six shops at the Damboa Motor Park area in Maiduguri, destroying goods and property estimated at over N4.95 million.
Zagazola Makama report that the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m., affecting various businesses, including a POS service center, a barbershop, a cosmetics outlet, a shoe cobbler’s stand, and a motor spare parts store.
The owners of the affected shops were identified as Nura Ahmad (POS operator), Yakubu Musa (barber), Usman Salisu (shoe cobbler), Musa Hamza (cosmetics), and Ibrahim Ali (motor spare parts dealer).
Authorities said preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a faulty electrical connection.
Men of the Federal and State Fire Services responded swiftly and successfully put out the fire, while police officers were deployed to secure the area and prevent looting.
