Education: Yobe to recruit 2,000 teachers in 2022 – Gov. Buni

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni said additional two thousand teachers would be recruited in the coming year to augment the existing ones as part of ongoing effort to revitalize basic and secondary education in the state.

The Governor disclosed this recently while presenting the 2022 Finance and Appropriation Bills before the State House of Assembly.

Buni also pledged that his administration will consolidate on the achievements recorded in revitalizing basic and secondary education in the 2022 fiscal year through massive renovation of more schools as well as inauguration of the newly constructed Model and Mega schools to give children in the state access to qualitative education.

“Government is targeting the recruitment of 2,000 teachers to augment the present number. 

“So far, we have supplied and furnished over 400 schools with adequate furniture and other teaching aides. We have reviewed to improve the administration of our schools in the state through constant monitoring. Government will provide additional Toyota Hilux vehicles to the monitoring fleet.

“We would in 2022 construct and rehabilitate more school structures including tertiary institutions; provide new offices and laboratories; supply generators, furniture, teaching and learning materials and game facilities for extra-curricular activities in the schools”, he assured.

The Governor stressed that his administration will also continue with the school feeding system and ensure prompt payment of counterpart funds, scholarships, registration, examination and tuition fees of Yobe state citizens.
