Education: Zulum disburses over N1 Billion School Improvement Grants in Borno

The State Governor Professor Baba Gana Umara Zulum has disbursed over One Billion Naira for Schools Improvement Grant (SIG) in Borno State.
The Governor also presented two vehicles to the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) , a World Bank Assisted Project.
Zulum had equally presented two cars to the State Implementation Office Unit of AGILE and a vehicle to the Tsangaya Board and Ministry of Education. He presented the check to the Principal Yerwa GSS, Maiduguri Hajiya Falmata Mustapha.
The Governor urged her to make good use of money.

Zulum who was represented by Comrade Musa Inuwa Kubo called on teachers to take the good advantage of AGILE to advance Education in the state.
Comrade Musa Kubo said “Governor Zulum led administration will improve the conditions of teachers saying as a retired teacher the era for teachers reward is in heaven is gone as the Chief Executive is determined to change the narratives on Education in Borno.”
The Commissioner of Education Engr. Lawan Kubo Abba Wakilbe thanked Governor Zulum for initiating the Project and commended Engr. Ibrahim Baba who shuttles between Borno and Federal Ministry of Education to ensure the Project becomes a reality.
The Commissioner of Education said “the Zulum led administration has recruited 800 teachers and very soon, the salaries of teachers will be implemented.”
The Commissioner charged the teachers to stay away from absenteeism and be punctual to their duty post.
In a remark, the Project Coordinator AGILE Engr. Ibrahim Baba said, “the rationale for the World Bank’s support for Nigeria’s adolescent girls education includes: The World Bank’s long-term and systemic engagement in education and other sectors in Nigeria to empower girls, increase their educational attainment, and equip them with a broad set of skills;
“Its global knowledge and expertise to increase the effectiveness of government investment in girl’s education and empowerment; Its ability to leverage investments in other sectors for education, including multi-sectoral programs such as the project.”
