The Emir of Fika, and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrisa CON, CFR, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing the second mandate to the Federal Character Commission to deal with the socio-economic infrastructure of the country.

The emir made the commendation today when the Commissioner Federal Character Commission representing Yobe State, Hon. Jibrin Maigari, paid him a courtesy visit at his ancient palace in Potiskum.

He said the commissioner has informed us of the importance of the character commission, and as he said, Wazirin Fika was the chairman of the commission, where he laid the foundation of fairness and equity in the distribution of public posts and socio-economic infrastructure across the country.

Dr. Abali Muhammadu maintained that, in the Northeast, Yobe State was left behind in terms of federal infrastructure such as roads and primary health centers, and assured the commission that we are to collaborate with them to see that they achieve their mandate and have succeeded.

The royal father revealed that the commissioner is a very well-known person, he contributed a lot, and he has a lot of experience, and he hopes he will bring a lot of development to Yobe State, and he congratulates him on his appointment and prays Allah will guide him to succeed and wishes him a successful tenure.

Earlier, the Commissioner Federal Character Commission representing Yobe State, Hon. Jibrin Maigari, said the Federal Character Commission was established by the then military administrator, General Sani Abacha, when the issue of marginalization in the country had reached a certain level.

He said the commission was led by Wazirin Fika, and he thanked him for laying a very solid foundation during the inception of this commission. It was started with about 6 commissioners from the six regional zones, but now it has expanded to 37 commissioners, where every state sends a commissioner to represent the state.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, nominated me to Mr. President, and Mr. President appointed me as a commissioner representing the good people of Yobe State,” Maigari said.

Adding to that, in keeping with our mandate, we are going round from local government to local government and meeting with the members of the public to interact and to engage and discuss the importance of this very important commission.

“Primarily, the commission was established with free fairness, equity, and transparency in appointments to federal organizations, and Mr. President graciously added what we call the second mandate, which deals with the socio-economic infrastructure of the country.
