Fika Government Secondary School win quiz competition

Fika Government Secondary School in Yobe State have won this year’s grand finale of Operations “Hadin Kai” quiz competition among public secondary schools in the north east Nigerian war theatre.
The winning School took away a grand prize of N 0.5m a result and N 50,000 each as individual prizes for their distinguished performances.
The School represented by Shaibu Musa, Adamu Saleh and Zubairu Saleh equally won the gold medal, a certificate for participating in the competition with a pile of Secondary school text books worth about N0.3m.
Presenting prizes to the students at the Government College Maiduguri where the competition was held, representative of the theatre Commander, Major General Olatokunbo Bello commended the students and teachers for keeping up to the terms of the competition as expected.
Speaking exclusively later with this reporter, General Bello said that the entire program was meant to engage the young minds within Borno Yobe and Adamawa region to anchor their excess energy on peace initiatives like such worthy competitions.
General Chibuisi went on: ” We asked the education administrators in the region to choose six out of their best schools in the senatorial region and kick off the competition with two from each senatorial zones.
” The Theatre Commander General Gold Chibuisi took this competition very serious from beginning to end because to him, it was worthy of note that the young ones are kept busy to avoid too many idle minds being distracted by the insurgency.
” It is the grand finale you are seeing here today in which one school each came from the three states. And we are happy they have shown their best and the result is what you see.
“To answer your questions on the duration of the competition, I can tell you right away that it has come to stay because any other theatre Commander who comes after this one would have to be involved in it until the war is brought to an end. The competition, would remain a yearly affair as our contribution to the non kinetic aspect to end this war lingering.
Commissioner of Education Lawan Wakilbe commended the theatre commander for the intervention into the education sector in the region while keeping the peace at the same time.
He posited that the interference into the education sector which is the non kinetic and the ongoing strengthening of the civil military relations within the BAY states is a vital tool aimed at securing the peace.
Represented by the Director of Administration Ali Musa, the commissioner maintained that N30,000 per student as prize money was quite substantial and commendable towards the well being of the kids.
The Commissioner cautioned the students not to relax on their oars but strive to grow up to the next level even as they prepare for the challenges of life waiting for them ahead.
Second position in the keenly contested position was Yerwa government girls Secondary School who bagged home N0.25m for their school, silver medal, a certificate, text books worth N0. 2m and customized exercises books.
Government Secondary school Garkida took the third position with a prize of N0.15m for their school, N20,000 each as personal pizes, customized exercise books, and a bronze medal and certificates as a memorabilia.
