Firm empowers 20 female farmers with free smart phones
A development and agricultural technology company, TECH4AG, with the mission to unlock opportunities and improve the nutritional and agricultural value chain in Africa through technology, innovation, research, and partnerships has empowered 20 female dairy farmers with Free Smart Mobile Phone tablets recently to boost Digital inclusion and dairy best practices in Oyo State.
The firm, through its Tech4Dairy project, in partnership with FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC and 2Scale, gave the free smartphone tablets which contain the mDairy App with relevant dairy information, videos and services on animal health, milk hygiene, nutrition, pasture development, etc to the beneficiaries.
The female beneficiaries are Fulanis and fresh milk suppliers to FC WAMCO selected from 5 clusters in Oyo State – Alaga, Maya, Iseyin, Fashola and Saki.
Co-founder TECH4AG, Gbadegesin Alawode said the project is aimed at promoting digital literacy, inclusion, awareness and boosting mobile phone ownership among marginalized female dairy farmers.
“We strongly believe in equity and that every woman should benefit from the digital transformation of the dairy sector irrespective of their gender, location, and education. We hope to reach 50,000 more female dairy farmers and extension officers by 2030”, He said.
Adding that it will make digital services like the dairy platform accessible and understandable while ensuring no women dairy farmer is left out.
Alawode also noted that the dairy application built by TECH4AG is an integrated digital application developed to boost local milk production in Nigeria to improve the dairy value chain, provides dairy farmers with online and offline information about best dairy practices, record keeping of milk, and health of cows via their mobile phones also offers surveys, analytics, and reporting to dairy companies and other users via a web version to enhance program planning and decision making.

General Manager, Dairy Development Programme, FC WAMCO Adekunle Olayiwola, stated that the Tech4Dairy project is a new innovation to improve the dairy farmers’ lives, particularly the women. The mobile phone tablets will help farmers have access to quality diary training, inputs from extension officers and management of the milk full chain in their farms.
“This is an epic event that symbolizes inclusion and growth to the GDP of the country. The mDairy platform is one of the best in the world and I hope to see this spread across Nigeria and Africa in a few years”. He said
One of the beneficiaries, Lawal Zuwerat, said: “I want to thank TECH4AG/mDairy for this laudable initiative as it will help me and other beneficiaries improve our digital skills while improving our business and livelihood”.
Troops Repel Bandit Attack, Rescue Lower Sharia Court Judge in Katsina State

Troops have successfully repelled a bandit attack in Mahuta Village, Dandume Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State, and rescued a prominent local judge, Mr. Rabiu Tukur, following the abduction of six residents on April 8, 2025.
Zagazola Makama informed by security sources that three attack occurred around 11:55 p.m. when armed bandits stormed the village, kidnapping six individuals, including Mr. Tukur, a 49-year-old judge with the Lower Sharia Court, Dandume.
The troops engaged the bandits in a fierce confrontation, successfully rescuing Mr. Tukur without any harm.
Efforts to locate and rescue the remaining five victims are ongoing, with security forces intensifying search and rescue operations in the surrounding areas.

Clash Between Commuters and Customs Officers Leads to Accident and Mob Violence in Maiadua, Kastina

A clash between a Customs patrol team and commuters resulted in a serious accident at Koza Village, Maiadua Local Government Area (LGA), on April 8, 2025, at around 8:35 p.m.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the Customs team was in pursuit of a commuter vehicle when the incident occurred.
In the aftermath, an angry mob set fire to the Customs camp in retaliation for the accident. The situation escalated, but the Division Police Officer (DPO) quickly mobilized police personnel to the scene to restore order.
As of now, the situation has been brought under control, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the details surrounding the incident.

Bandit Attack Foiled in Musawa LGA Kastina As Nine Kidnapped Victims Rescued

In a daring rescue operation, the security forces successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued nine victims from armed bandits on April 9, 2025, at approximately 1:25 a.m.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspected armed bandits, riding motorcycles, stormed Farin Dutse in Dangani, Musawa Local Government Area, and abducted several individuals.
However, the timely response from the Division Police Officer (DPO), who mobilized a Joint APC Patrol to the scene, led to a fierce gun battle with the bandits.
In the aftermath of the engagement, six females and three males were rescued and swiftly transported to the General Hospital Musawa for medical attention.
The victims are reported to be in stable condition.
