Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, alongside Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the Vice President, have donated N250 million to support 5,000 female entrepreneurs in Borno, whose businesses were affected by recent floods in Maiduguri. This initiative was announced during a sympathy visit to the state, which experienced significant damage from flooding due to the Alau dam overflow last September.
In addition to the financial support, Mrs. Tinubu distributed food items to help alleviate the economic hardships faced by the community. She emphasized that this donation is part of ongoing efforts, following a previous N500 million contribution to the state government through the Renewed Hope Programme, aimed at assisting all affected citizens.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude for these generous contributions, highlighting the federal government’s commitment to supporting the state in the aftermath of the disaster.
Furthermore, Coordinating Minister of Health Muhammad Pate contributed lifesaving medicines and antibiotics to aid the flood victims, enhancing the relief efforts in the region.
