President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, Ph.D., GCON, Sardaunan Bade. Yobe North Senatorial District has today attended the Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the Aliyu Ibn Talib Masjid Mosque in Maitama, Abuja.
In a statement issued by him, he made it available to newsmen in Damaturu. The former Senate president said the atmosphere was filled with a sense of unity as we all stood together, shoulder to shoulder, to offer our prayers to God.
“The Imam led us in the prayers, reciting verses from the Quran and reminding us of the importance of forgiveness, charity, and compassion towards others.” He said.
Lawan said this during the prayers. I prayed for the security and safety of Nigeria, asking Allah (SWT) to protect our country from any harm or danger. I also prayed for the men and women serving in the Armed Forces and, of course, those with our security agencies who sacrifice so much to keep our nation safe. I prayed for their well-being and for their families, asking for strength and encouragement for them in their duties.
“I asked for God’s guidance and wisdom in the minds and hearts of our leaders, that they may govern with integrity, honesty, and compassion. I also prayed for unity and peace amongst the diverse ethnicities in Nigeria, that the spirit of love and understanding may prevail over any form of division or conflict that may threaten our unity as a people.
Senator Ahmad Lawan maintained that, most importantly, I asked for Allah’s protection over Nigeria, especially during this festive period, to keep them safe from harm and grant them good health, prosperity, and happiness.
“As we celebrate the end of Ramadan, may Almighty Allah (SWT) show us mercy, forgive our sins, and answer all our prayers. May this Eid bring us peace and immeasurable blessings.
