Former Senate president mourns aid, Tukur

By: Yayaha Wakili

President of the 9th Senate, Distinguished Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, Ph.D., GCON, mourns the death of his former Legislative Aids on Digital Photography Communications in the 9th National Assembly, Muhammad Tukur Usman.

“I received the news of the death of Muhammad Tukur Usman with so much sadness. Tukur was very close to me and was always involved in all the political activities of the Unity family,” he said.

He was also my legislative assistant on digital photography communications in the 9th National Assembly when I served as President of the Senate.

My last engagement with Muhammad Tukur was on Thursday at the Government House, Damaturu, when I went to commiserate with the Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, over the death of His Excellency, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Muhammad Tukur was such a fine gentleman, defined by his humility and diligence in service. In December last year, he was one of those assigned the responsibility of organizing the Mega Empowerment Programme sponsored by my foundation, THE SAIL FOUNDATION, for my constituents in Yobe north senatorial district.

I share in the grief of his family, friends, and associates over his sudden demise. Muhammad Tukur Usman was not just an aide to me; he was a true and active member of the Unity family.
