A philanthropist and an indigene of Borno State,  Ibrahim Jibrin Mohammed has subsidised petrol at 430 per litre as against N637 pump price at petrol stations in Maiduguri,

The palliative intervention which took place at two petrol stations on Friday witnessed unprecedented number of motorists and tricycle operators scrambling in turn to access the fuel.

Speaking at the NNPC filling station in Damboa , the donor, Jibrin Mohammed said the gesture is based on the first lady of the federation, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu’s directive to support others to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

Mohammad who was represented by Abbas Kaka Hassan  said, ” This is why I decided to help the people of Borno and the entire country because the excesise will be carried out in all the geopolitical zones of the country. “

He said about 10,000 litres of petrol have been provided to be dispensed to motorists and tricycle operators in the two designated filling stations in the capital city, adding that such will be replicated in other parts of the country.

Hajiya Yagumsu Bukar, a beneficiary of the palliative, commended the provider for coming to the aid of the masses at this crucial period when citizens are facing the brunt of the fuel subsidy removal.

” To be sincere,  this is a very good effort from this good Samaritan and if this will continue it will go a long way in ameliorating the suffering of the masses, I appeal to other well to do individuals to emulate the gesture of this good Samaritan for betterment of the society,” Gumsu said.

For Ashaya Aklahyel another beneficiary, the intervention is a welcome development that would cushion the effect of removal of fuel subsidy which has shattered the economy and threw the masses to poverty.

” Such type of intervention will go a long way in reaching so many people even more than the government is doing because ,this type of intervention did not cut across party line but to everyone irrespective of religion or ethnicity, ” he said.
