General Yahaya commends media for consistent reportage

The Chief of the Nigerian Army Staff, Lt Gen. Farouk Yahaya has commended the media for the good reportage meted out to the Armed forces in the various war theatres in the country.
Chief Yahaya who was on a one day operational visit to the the North East theatre of Operation Hadin Kai urged the media to do more in keeping the country together.
He called on reporters and their news managers to be more “nationalistic” in their approach to reportage so that the common enemies will not celebrate or gain upper hand in any of the war theatres against the Army or the entire armed forces.
Chief Yahaya told the troops of operation Hadin Kai during a lunch meeting Friday that he was satisfied with the operations in the three sectors and the entire country adding that troops are doing well following the new rules of engagements laid down for them.
” I challenge you not to relent, but to stay alert by being vigilant as they address the issues on ground in accordance with our new rules of engagement.
“the basic teachings of a professional Army like ours is for you to be alert every time, to your obligations, following command and control which is very important across all our locations. We can’t afford to take anything for granted. This is the message I gave them at Baga where I visited and it is for all of you too.
“. We are not relenting, we are continuing our operations in both the kinetic and non-kinetic. Even those who are supporting the terrorist in one way or the other we are not relenting in our bid to apprehending them. Those who provide information, logistics, those who help them in anyway. We call and urge our own friends here and across to continue also to support and provide relevant information.
“These people are not from the moon, they are criminals living all along with us, if we see them and we report before they act, we are in a better position before they take action. When we see anything across all other theatres, we should report to relevant security agencies, so that we take action.” said the army chief.
The Army chief said that troops will continue also to relate with all other security agencies adding that they appreciate other services, like the Nigerian Air force, Navy and all other security agencies that have been contributing to calm the tide.
He called on troops of the Nigerian Army not to relent in doing what they are doing, adding that “all our achievements has being possible by the support of the present Commander in chief who has provided all the resources that we require, all the enablement and he continuously placed enormous confidence in the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Military and other security agencies and that is what he is also given us, in proportionate measure every time.
” The present effort is clear and we are not relenting to provide secure environments, secure country or our social activities. Elections are here, we are all from here, we know were they come from with their additional challenges, but we also have experience from the election being conducted since 1999. So we should never yield on our experience, our contingency plan of large area of trouble, we should enhance our drills and especially liaise and relate and co-operate with others security agencies across, leading agencies like police and other security agencies that provide support.

And what is the objective, it also sets the conditions for a peaceful election, they act aside, they are actually operations that are eclipsed in the physical dribble so that they can address unique and peculiar security challenges in the areas where they are lunched, problems that go with them, they will be able to provide secure environment and conducive atmosphere that will lunch us into the election period, all units and formation in the army has contingency plans with the procurement of security and particularly for the coming elections we should as mandated by a our profession always appraise them and review them and continue to be alert and vigilante so that we can review this our plans and activate them when necessary in order to support relevant authorities in the conduct of this coming election and the provision of security for our dear country men and women.”
“Our operation that I mentioned are usually together with this other services and other agencies in order to enhance synergy between us because no one side could do it alone, but together no adversary can defeat us,

“So we take it that way I am sure we will harness our strength and I know no one enemy or adversary can take all of us. It’s is not possible, together we will beat them
” So I want to thank you all gentlemen for all your support, sacrifices for every time we are here you are always here, and for the reportage you are doing which to us is a national call, national duty that you have do, we do it too. The press is a professional body, it has his own rules also, you can even call them rules of engagement too. How they should deal with professional threats and, how they should report.

Troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have rescued a kidnapped victim following a swift response to a suspected terrorist attack in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources disclosed that the troops, deployed at Abaji, acted on a report at about 1:45 p.m. on April 21 regarding an attack at Tumataa community.
On arrival, the troops engaged the suspected terrorists in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee the scene.
The victim was successfully rescued and has since been reunited with family members.
The sources added that troops are sustaining operations in the area to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.

Troops Recover 225 Rustled Cattle, Repel Bandits in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have recovered no fewer than 225 rustled cattle after engaging suspected bandits in Katsina State.
Security sources told Zagazola that the operation was carried out at about 8:00 a.m. on April 20 by troops of 17 Brigade following credible intelligence on the movement of a notorious bandit leader, identified as Muhammad Filani, and his group.
The sources said the suspects were tracked to Kauri village in Kankia Local Government Area, where troops made contact and engaged them in a firefight.
“Upon contact, the troops engaged the bandits effectively, forcing them to flee and abandon the rustled cattle,” the source said.
The troops subsequently recovered a total of 225 cattle, which were handed over to relevant local authorities for identification and return to their rightful owners.
Military authorities noted that the operation has dealt a significant blow to cattle rustling networks operating within the area.
They added that troops have sustained aggressive patrols and intelligence-driven operations to deny bandits freedom of action across the state.
Meanwhile, under Operation Savannah Shield, troops continued offensive operations and routine security activities within their areas of responsibility.
Sources, however, confirmed that there was no major incident recorded during the period under review.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while intensifying efforts to combat banditry and related crimes in the North West.

Troops Respond to Kidnap Incident in Plateau, Launch Rescue Operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army have responded to a kidnap incident involving a female resident in Plateau State, with efforts ongoing to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on April 21 at Nagwak village in Gindiri District of Mangu Local Government Area.
The sources said troops of Sector 8, operating under Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded swiftly to reports of the abduction.
“On arrival at the scene, troops discovered the husband of the abducted woman with gunshot wounds,” a source said.
The injured victim was immediately evacuated by the troops to a medical facility for treatment.
According to the sources, preliminary findings indicate that the attackers abducted the female victim before fleeing the area.
Troops have since launched search and rescue operations, with intensified patrols aimed at tracking down the kidnappers and securing the safe release of the victim.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely information to security agencies.
