Gombe Govt. inaugurates healthcare mobile app to enhance quality service

Gombe State Government has inaugurated the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GoHealth) mobile application aimed at enhancing quality healthcare service delivery.

Newsmen reports that the state government inaugurated the mobile app during the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCP) stakeholders’ engagement on Thursday in Gombe.

Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, who spoke at the unveiling of the mobile platform, said it was aligned with his administration’s policy of embracing innovative and technology-driven solutions to ensure effective healthcare service delivery to the people.

He said the stakeholders’ engagement was designed to create awareness and mobilise participation in the recently introduced contributory healthcare scheme in the state.

Yahaya said the Agency had successfully enrolled over 25,000 poor and vulnerable persons across the 114 wards of the state, adding that the enrollees had been accessing Basic Minimum Package of Health Services in primary healthcare centers since inception in 2021.

According to him, the Agency is targeting about 40,000 persons for enrollment into the scheme in 2022.

“We are committed to improve the lives of our people across the nooks and crannies of the state, in line with our electoral promises and plans

“I, therefore, urge all stakeholders to mobilise the poor and vulnerable in our communities for enrollment to meet the healthcare needs of our people,” he said.

He further called on philanthropists, political leaders and organisations to embrace the adoption model introduced by GoHealth.

“Through this model, you can sponsor and enroll family members, friends, neighbors and dependents into the programme by paying an agreed premium fee to enable them enjoy access to quality and affordable healthcare services,” he said.

The governor commended the Federal Ministry of Health, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the development partners for their support towards improving quality healthcare service delivery in the state.

Dr Habu Dahiru, the state Commissioner for Health, lauded the governor for effective implementation of the health sector transformation programmes.

According to him, the mobile application will assist residents of the state to access quality healthcare services through GoHealth app from the comfort of their rooms.

Also, Prof. Mohammed Sambo, Executive Secretary, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) urged the state government to mobilise finances to complement the Federal Government’s effort towards enhancing provision of basic healthcare to the vulnerable.

“I urge you to mobilise finances to enable you enlarge coverage for poor and vulnerable persons in the state,” he said.

Sambo commended the state government for upgrading 114 Primary Healthcare Centres for optimal service delivery, adding that, “your effort is commendable and is inline with implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.”
