Gombe mega motor park reaches 95% completion – Official
The Gombe State Mega Motorpark has reached a 95 per cent level of completion, says a top official.
Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Gombe on Tuesday.
According to reports, the contract of the mega motor park was awarded in 2012 by the immediate past administration of Ibrahim Dankwambo at the cost of N6.2 billion with a completion period of 28 months.
The reports also gathered that the present administration of Inuwa Yahaya alleged that the past administration left the project at 39 per cent completion.
Idris said currently the road network in the park had been completed and the park had all the necessary facilities needed, including 250 shops, a clinic, a hotel with 100 people capacity, a fire service station, trailer park which can contain 2,500 trailers at a time.
He said what was left now is only the civil work which was at the completion level, adding that when completed the park is going to be one of the best, if not the best, in the country.
The commissioner said the park is strategically located and as soon as the park is inaugurated, all the motor parks in Gombe would be relocated to the new place.

He also said the state government had started receiving applications from private entities within and outside the state who were willing to set up business at the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Estate under construction.
“But we will ensure that only those with the capacity to establish industry and run them efficiently were allocated spaces,” he said.
He said the industrial park was designed to provide land and other essential amenities and infrastructure conducive for manufacturing activities.
Idris said some of the facilities at the park included water, electricity, road networks and administrative building.
“When completed, the park would serve as a hub for industrial activities in the North East,” he said.
