Gombe Police Launches Investigation into Murder of 58 year old house wife Aishatu Abdullahi


… Even as CP Directs AC CID To personally Investigate the crime

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Operations Gombe State Command CP Hayatu Usman on behalf of the CP Gombe State Command has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Criminal Investigation Department to personally investigate the murder of a 58-year-old woman, Aishatu Abdullahi who was allegedly slaughtered by unknown persons on October 20, 2023.

A statement signed by the spokesman of the command Mohid Abubakar hinted that the suspects are alleged to have stormed Aishatu Abdullahi’s residence at Jeka da Fari Quarters in Gombe at approximately 21:45hrs, before fleeing with her handset.

On receipt of the information, Police operatives moved to the scene where Aishatu was found in a pool of blood and was immediately rushed to the Specialist Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.

The Gombe Command has expressed shock and dismay at the heinous crime and has pledged to do everything in its power to bring the perpetrators to justice.

” The Command has launched a full-scale investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible for the brutal murder.

” The Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Aishatu Abdullahi and we want to assure the public that we are doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to justice.

” We urge anyone with information that could lead us in our investigation to come forward and give us the information.” said ASP Abubakar.

Meanwhile, the Command is urging residents to remain calm and vigilant and to report any suspicious activities of individuals to the Police.

” The Command is also encouraging members of the public to cooperate fully with the police as they carry out their investigation, without the support we may not get to the roots of these problems because some of these criminals are from within the community being terrorized.

“We are committed to maintaining law and order in the State and will not rest until those responsible for this senseless act of violence are brought to justice.

” Finally, the Command wishes
the general public to know that the movement restriction earlier imposed is still in place and also the Okada and Keke Napep riders are encouraged to help the Police with information. Anybody who violates this order will face the full wrath of the law.

A swift response by the Nigerian troops in Kebbi has foiled a bandit attack on Dabai Town, forcing the assailants to flee after a gun battle with security operatives.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred around 2 a.m. when suspected bandits attempted to invade the town.

“Security forces were immediately dispatched to intercept the assailants and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire,” the source said. “Overwhelmed by superior firepower, the bandits abandoned their mission and escaped.”

While no casualties were reported, security operatives have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks.

Unidentified Woman Dies After Jumping Off Third Mainland Bridge

An unidentified woman has died after allegedly jumping off the Third Mainland Bridge into the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront, an intelligence source has confirmed.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Thursday.

“We received information that a woman suddenly stopped on the bridge and jumped into the water. No identification documents were found on her,” the source said.

According to the source, the Marine Police Division in Akoka was alerted about an hour later, prompting a swift response from a team of marine police officers.

“She was pulled out of the water and rushed to the UNILAG shore, where medical personnel examined her. Unfortunately, she was confirmed dead,” the source added.

The woman’s remains have since been deposited at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, another Police sources said that the Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation to establish her identity and uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we urge anyone with information about the deceased to come forward,” said Police sources.

Kidnapped Catholic Priest Rescued in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has rescued Rev. Father Philip Mario Ekweli, who was kidnapped on March 13 in Aghenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the he priest, who serves at St. Peter’s Apostle Catholic Church, Iviukhua Community, was rescued on Thursday at about 4:52 p.m. in Amughe Community.

Security agencies have intensified search and bush-combing operations to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safety of other residents.
