Governor Buni Announces N164 Billion as Budget for 2022 in Yobe

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed the budget of #163,953,384,000 appropriation bill into Law at the Government House Damaturu.

The governor revealed that it would focus on completion of ongoing projects, initiation of new ones as well as create employment opportunities to promote self- reliance among others.

The budget estimates tagged “Budget of Continuity, Employment and Accelerated Development, is made up of #73,657,141,000 billion capital expenditure and #90,296,243,000 billion recurrent expenditure.

He said the budget would maintain its drive in the revitalisation of education and agriculture, explore more wealth creation and revenue generation to achieve the set goals.

“We have created the right atmosphere for the sustenance of our policy on transparency, accountability, due process and financial discipline.” Buni said.

According to him, Yobe state is rated as second best state after Kaduna state in capital Budget expenditure, which promoted service delivery in education, healthcare delivery, trade and commerce, roads construction and housing among others.

The governor maintained that, “in line with its statutory oversight function, the House reduced the size of the budget and this made the net allocation for financing recurrent expenditure to stand at #90,296,243 ,000, while the capital expenditure stood at #73,657,141,000.”

In his remarks, the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Lawan Mirwa said the House has upon receiving the bills promised to pass them without any delay.

Mirwa commended the mutual understanding between the House and the executive arm of government.
