Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has warned that the government would not condone wastage or diversion of government resources to sabotage our efforts towards providing services to the people.
Governor Buni gave the warning today while swearing in eight newly appointed permanent secretaries at the Banquet Hall Government House in Damaturu.
He said the appointment is purely based on merit, competence, and capacity. Therefore, you are expected to add value from your wealth of experience to the civil service so that the government can achieve its set goals and efficiently and effectively deliver the required services to our people.
“You should inject your wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and skills to promote good governance and groom your subordinates for sustainability because one day you will also retire from the service just as you took over from your seniors who retired from the service, Buni said.
“This administration recently employed over 2,600 degree graduates, diploma holders, and NCE holders to fill in the vacant positions in the civil service to enhance productivity.
He said, We reiterate our commitment to due process and transparency in conducting government business. All communications and movement of files must follow the normal procedure and channels for proper documentation, and no government files should be released to unauthorized persons.
Governor Mai Mala Buni revealed that “we will ensure that government resources are judiciously and effectively used to improve the welfare of our people and urged all the permanent secretaries to be good team players and to work harmoniously with their commissioners, directors, and other staff to collectively achieve our set targets with maximum results.
