Governor Buni rehabilitates 138 Primary Healthcare Centres Destroy by Boko Haram in Yobe

Yobe state government has successfully rehabilitated 138 out of the 178 Primary Health Care Centers which destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents in the state.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state disclosed this while commissioning the Gwange primary healthcare centre in Damaturu, the state capital.

He said one of the cardinal objectives of our administration is to provide quality health care delivery to reduce mortality and morbidity rates due to communicable diseases and also reverse the prevalence of non-communicable diseases to meet global targets and significantly increase the life expectancy and quality of life of our citizens.

“We remain committed to our drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and indeed other health related sustainable development goals.” Buni said.

He government procured and distributed over 88 customized tricycle ambulances for transporting expectant mothers in labour or emergencies in order to reduce delay in reaching health facilities for referral patients in need of further care.

Speaking, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Muhammed Lawan Gana revealed that, Governor Mai Mala Buni has fulfilled his campaign promises of establishing at least one standard and functional primary healthcare centres in each of 178 political wards in the state.

He maintained that, the construction of these health facilities have motivated and improved primary health care staff performance and availability at all times in the facilities.

“Yobe state came first in the country with aggregate score of 97% according to the recent score card 5 report shared on PHCUOR implementation in the country.

In his welcome address, the Executive Secretary Yobe State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina said this administration has constructed 138 standard and functional primary health centres across the state.

He said, to ensure full functionality of these constructed PHC facilities in the state, there is the urgent need to capacitate the state Primary Health Care Board and LGA PHC Departments to be able to provide effective supervision and oversight for the PHC system in the state.

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman Caretaker Management Committee of Damaturu local government, Alhaji Bukar Adamu said we are all witness to the numerous policy and programme that were formulated and implemented by the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni in the state.

He call on all medical workers in employment of Yobe state to be deducted to their duties all the time, adding that, these center will be utilized for the benefit of our people and to the good people of Yobe state.

Alhaji Bukar Adamu urged each and every one of you to patronize this health centre as a best line in consoltation in health care provision so as to benefit from investment by the Yobe state government of upgrading and rehabilitation of health centres in the state.
