A teenage farmer has been killed following a clash with a herder in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
Zagazola gathered that the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 in Jatori village.
Sources stated that the herder allegedly trespassed into the millet and beans farm of the deceased, identified as 18-year-old Isaye Kundili, with his cattle.
An altercation ensued when the young farmer attempted to chase the herd away, during which the herder shot him in the chest with a bow and arrow before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to the Primary Health Care Centre, Gubio, where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment. His body was later released to relatives for burial in line with Islamic rites.
Police said efforts were ongoing to trace and arrest the fleeing suspect in collaboration with the herders’ union.
