Hijrah: Philanthropist cautions against illegal wealth acquisition
A Philanthropist, Mr Boniface Ifeanyi-Okoli, has cautioned Nigerians against the illegal acquisition of wealth.
Ifeanyi-Okoli, who is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of lfy Bosco International Limited, Ilorin, gave the advice in a statement felicitating Muslims on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar, known as Hijrah 1444.
He advised those in positions of authority to shun the acquisition of wealth and prioritise the well-being of the masses in their minds in order to achieve an egalitarian society.
According to him, Nigeria is blessed with various natural resources that can make her rank at the forefront among the comity of nations.
He attributed the country’s problems to the acquisition of the nation’s wealth by a few Nigerians to the detriment of millions of other citizens.
“The acquisition of wealth in this country by some few Nigerians has reached an alarming proportion that needs to be curtailed to boost the nation’s economy,” the philanthropist said.
“None of us will carry wealth away after death which implies that acquiring it is an effort in futility which will not be rewarded by God,” he stressed.
While congratulating Muslims for the commencement of the 1444AH Islamic calendar, Ifeanyi-Okoli urged Christians and Muslims to shun all negative tendencies that can retard the economic growth and development of the country.
He further advised wealthy Nigerians to always assist the less privileged in society to reduce, what he described, as a high rate of poverty and soaring unemployment
Besides, the philanthropist congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, eminent Islamic clerics in the state and the entire people of the state on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar.
