The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, alongside the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Plateau State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Benjamin Sumi Garkuwa, conducted a final assessment of the Cottage Hospital Sikyen in preparation for its official commencement.

The team was joined by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health Mr. Gayi Timothy Gayi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and other key health officials, including the Directors of Medical Services, Nursing Services, and Pharmaceutical Services.

Dr. Shurkuk stated that this development is in line with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s commitment to revitalizing the health sector on the Plateau State. He emphasized that the plan includes restoring abandoned hospitals to provide accessible healthcare to underserved communities.

The CMD, Dr. Sumi , pointed the importance and the need for collaboration between the community, local government, and the Hospital Management Board to ensure the hospital’s success and sustainability.

The delegation was warmly received by the Acting Saf Ron, Lawrence Amadam Aizat, who expressed gratitude to the state government for fulfilling its promise to revive the hospital. He also commended the healthcare leaders for their dedication and commitment to their duties and commitment to the Sikyen community.

The Cottage Hospital Sikyen, once it becomes officially operational, is expected to significantly improve healthcare access and outcomes for the entire Toff District.
