How Notorious Bayelsa Kidnapper, Politician, John Lyon Operates – Police

The police in Bayelsa state have paraded John Ewa aka John Lyon, the suspected kidnap kingpin recently arrested in the state.

Parading the suspect and his accomplices before newsmen today September 26, the Commissioner of Police said that on December 8, one Akeeb Oladele Olushola ‘m’ 48, a Manager of a new generation Bank, was kidnaped at his residence at Old Commissioners Quarters Opolo. He was released on the 12th of December after paying a ransom of Eighty (N80) Million Naira.

He said similarly, Danjuma Omeje, 41, a Manager of a new generation Bank in Yenagoa was kidnaped at his residence at Okaka, Yenagoa, on 30th June 2022. He was later released on 14th July 2022 after paying a ransom of 60 million naira – thirty (N30) Million Naira cash and US Dollar equivalent of thirty (N30) Million Naira.

The police commissioner said following a detailed investigation, the ring leader of the kidnap syndicate, Emmanuel Charles Angase ‘m’ 37 years, a native of Azuzuama Community, Southern Ijaw LGA, was arrested.

The police boss said Angase operates a kidnapping camp at Sunikiri creek near Oluasiri in Nembe Local Government Area with his second in command, one Gbalipre Gamage, now at large. Police operatives recovered a brand new Toyota Avalon he bought for his wife with the proceed of ransom he collected.

”The gang leader Emmanuel Charles Angase has confessed that on 30th June 2022 at about 0600 hours, himself, John Ewa, and others at large accosted Danjuma Omeje at the entrance of his house at Okaka, kidnap him, and fled in a Blue Toyota Corolla Car with REG NO KJA 225 AY.”

He mentioned that the second suspect, John Ikechukwu Ewa ‘m’ 30 years aka John Lion, a native of Eruan Community in Boki LGA, Cross River State, is known for a flamboyant lifestyle on Social Media. He said Ewa is a former cleaner with a new generation bank and has confessed to having collected Ten (10) Thousand US Dollars from the ransom collected in the kidnap of Danjuma Omeje.

Troops rescue injured herder, foil attack by Berom Militia in Plateau

Troops under Operation OPEP have foiled an attack by Berom Militia and rescued an injured herder in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 12:22 p.m. on April 12 at Rasa village, where gunmen suspected to be Militia from Berom Community reportedly attacked a herder.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 4 OPEP deployed at Bisichi responded promptly to the distress call and forced the attackers to abandon their mission and flee.

They added that the troops rescued the victim, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.

“The injured herder was evacuated to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical attention,” the sources said.

They noted that troops have intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.

Police arrest suspected foreign bandits in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has arrested two suspected foreign bandits in Jato-Aka area of the state.

Police sources said the suspects, identified as Franklin Penn, 32, and Ayong Louis, 33, were apprehended at about 6:00 a.m. on April 12 following credible intelligence.

According to the sources, the suspects, who claimed to be Cameroonian nationals, were found in possession of suspected criminal charms and foreign currency believed to be in French denomination.

The sources added that the suspects had no valid means of identification at the time of arrest.

They said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The command assured that further developments would be communicated as investigations progress.

Suspected ISWAP member attempts suicide in custody in Borno

A suspected member of ISWAP/JAS arrested in Ngamdu town, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, has reportedly attempted suicide while in custody.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on April 13, following the suspect’s earlier arrest on April 12 by troops of 154 Task Force Battalion.

According to the sources, the suspect attempted to take his life by strangulation while in detention, but was quickly overpowered and restrained by troops on duty.

They added that the suspect was evacuated to a Level 2 Field Hospital (L2FH), where he is currently receiving medical attention and responding to treatment.

The sources noted that security measures around the detainee have been reinforced, while investigations into the case continue.
