Hunger takes over Boko Haram Camps in Borno

Hunger and starvation have been reported in many camps of Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, Boko Haram in the axis of Bama in the North East,  warranting them to resort to attacking local villages and farms for foodstuffs, money, medicines among others.

Bama one of the local government areas of Borno state that has been divested by activities of Boko Haram is about 65km from Maiduguri the Borno state capital in northeast Nigeria.

Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad said that the insurgents had been cut off from their usual supply routes by the intensified offensives of the Nigerian Military.

Hundreds of women and children have been deserting the camp of Gazuwa an acclaimed Headquarters of the insurgent’s camp around the axis of Bama due to extreme hunger and diseases.  On July 25,   the terrorists sneaked into Bama town to loot food items and other valuables in the neighborhood. They later opened fire at two persons who came out from their houses after noticing a strange activity in their neighbors shop.

The victims were transferred to ICRC clinic for proper medical attention.
