“The cooperation culminated in the cash movement notification regime and ongoing exchange on the AML/CFT regulations. An event was organized in collaboration with SCUML in April 2021 for INGO finance departments in Abuja.
“The event was aimed at increasing the understanding of INGOs on the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing in the non-profit sector and strengthening their compliance systems through risks assessments analysis.” The statement said.
Reaching vulnerable populations across the north-east with humanitarian assistance is the primary goal of INGOs.
“To achieve this objective by also avoiding any aid diversion, INGOs follow strict regulations that ensure compliance with the host government laws and regulations as well as policies of donor agencies. INGOs also strive to ensure they in no way expose to possible harm those whom they support, and they do so while acting in line with international guidance, including on data protection.
“NIF highly appreciates its longstanding coordination with the EFCC and is keen on continuing this engagement to ensure that the affected and vulnerable populations in the areas of operation of INGOs are reached with adequate, dignified assistance in a timely manner. The statement added.
