The Insurgency in Borno state northeast Nigeria is taking a new turn as reports say Boko Haram terrorists camps in Lake Chad area of Borno state in northeast Nigeria have been overrun by Islamic State of West African Province, killing 87 members of the JAS- fighters.

JAS fighters are factions under Boko Haram Spiritual Leader, Abubakar Shekau, who was said to have detonated a bomb and killed himself in order to prevent capture by ISWAP fighters early this year.

The report on Thursday said it was a deadly encounter between the Boko Haram fighters and elements of ISWAP, which left 87 Boko Haram fighters dead.

“It was a reprisal attack launched by Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP. This was a major hit since the insurgency began in Borno” A source with information about the activities of the terrorist group disclosed this on Thursday in Maiduguri.

“The suspected ISWAP elements, carried out the reprisal at the camp of the Commander of Boko Haram, Bakoura Modou, in Lake Chad axis on Tuesday night,” another source said

Our Correspondent reported that the reprisal attack was coming barely five days after a group of terrorists affiliated to Boko Haram eliminated 24 Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP fighters, at Mandra and Gaba Mountains in Gwoza town, Borno State.

Fight between the two terrorist groups continued since the former terror leader Abubakar Shekau was killed by ISWAP fighters.

“Attempts to bring the two groups into one fold by some commanders did not materialize as growing suspicion among them has continued to split them” the sources said.

Our Correspondent learnt that the SWAP fighters stormed Modou’s Lake Chad camp in 50 local speed boats yesterday to unleash havoc on the JAS elements, killing 87 from fighters from the former Shekau’s men.
