JOB MONGERS IN FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION (FCSC)

These days you can easily find job mongers in nearly all public establishments in Nigeria. The most talked about is the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) where some Commissioners representing their states have been accused of job mongering. As a columnist and investigative writer I decided to do some findings as fingers are pointing towards Akwa Ibom/ Cross River States.

President Mohammed Buhari administration in its effort to get rid of wholesale and retail corruption which is being undermined by some Nigerians mostly those in government services- civil and public servants who are supposed to curb this monster in their places of work rather than doing that, they aid and abet these ills.

Today. Job trading has become nearly a permanent feature in the Nigerian labour market because of the high level of corruption in our public and private engagements whereas those involved are no doubt taking advantage of burning desperation of job seekers and milking them of their money.

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) was basically established to give equal job opportunities to all eligible applicants in all states of the federation into the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) through this noble commission where men of wealth of experience, honour and integrity discharged their public duties as public officers.

But surprisingly, the case is entirely a different ball game with some states whose Commissioners are out to make things difficult for their state applicants.

Take the case of Akwa Ibom/ Cross River states where prospective job- seekers are allegedly to pay for the available free job vacancies meant for their states.

At the Commission recently, this writer spoke with the Federal Commissioner Mr. Simon Etim who out rightly refuted and denied such allegation by saying “I am not aware of such a thing and this office has never indulged in such an act neither my as an individual.”

Mr. Etim further said “where is the evidence and who are the people that gave money? To whom? And who?” He queried.

Public officials who are engaged in these corrupt practices know themselves but the truth of the matter is that there is no smoke without fire beneath the burning heap of refuse.

Investigations  revealed that most of those involved in this act carried it through their”Labradors” who joyfully advance the course of this venality as curtain raisers where the benefactors bask in comfort after the deal with no skittish thereafter, as such, sabotaging the good intention of the government with that of their state.

According to confirmed statistics on unemployment in Akwa  Ibom state, the rate is very high compared to other states.

The paired state Cross River is not faced with this problem because Professor Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade the Executive Governor has raised the level of employment in his state through industrial revolution for sustainable economic growth and development.

For this reason, he was made Leadership Newspaper Governor of The Year 2019. And this is what was said of him. “For igniting an industrial revolution that has positioned Cross  River State on the pedestal of sustained economic growth, for building factories with zonal spread across the state, providing job opportunities for youth and women, rebuilding the state’s decrepit infrastructure as well as empowering his people economically with his agricultural transformation agenda”.

From this quote one will agree that job- seekers from Akwa Ibom are high and will pay to be employed in the Federal Civil Service.

It is said that agents to the mongers sell that job between #400,000 to #500,000. However, this depends on the ministry, agency, department or parastatal. Job mongers are real.
