The National President of Kullen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN), Hon. Khalil Mohammed Bello, has urged all pastoralists in the country to exercise restraint and avoid any destruction of farmers crops during this ongoing harvesting season.
He said it is imperative that we respect the hard work of our agricultural communities, as their efforts are vital to the food security of our nation.
Hon. Khalil Bello made the appeal in a press statement issued and signed by him to share with newsmen in Damaturu. He calls on herders to live in peace and harmony with their host communities; mutual respect and understanding are essential for fostering a conducive environment for both pastoralists and farmers.
“As the KACRAN, we stand united in our commitment to fostering peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in our beloved country. We encourage all pastoralists to conduct their activities in the most peaceful manner possible. It is our duty to ensure that our practices do not incite conflict but instead contribute to a harmonious coexistence,” Khalil said.
He appeals to all members to be law-abiding citizens; upholding the law is crucial for maintaining order and security in our communities, and he also calls on pastoralists to extend maximum support and cooperation to government authorities and security operatives in their efforts to maintain peace and unity. Together, we can build a so-far environment for all.
The National President further commends His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, for his exemplary peace strategy in organizing stakeholder security meetings involving pastoralist leaders, security operatives, local government chairmen, and emirs.
“This initiative represents a significant step towards finding lasting solutions to the farmers’/herders conflicts in Yobe State, and I urge other states and the federal government to emulate this model,” Khalil added.
Hon. Bello expresses his gratitude to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its vital role in providing water points for pastoralists, promoting inclusivity in palliative distributions, strengthening security, and supporting the overall development of the region.
He also commends the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) under Dr. Mohammed Goje for its continuous assistance to pastoralists through the purchase and distribution of animal feeds and palliatives; such efforts are crucial for the welfare of our herders.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Yobe state security operatives, local government chairmen, and emirs for their unwavering support. Your cooperation has significantly facilitated KACRAN’s peace sensitization initiatives, making them effective and impactful.
Hon. Khalil Bello expresses his sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, for his simplicity, openness, and dedication to maintaining peace and harmony in Yobe State. Noted that his leadership brings the people of the state closer together, fostering sustainable development for the benefit of all.
