KACRAN Commends Tinubu’s Action on NEDC Board

Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has commended the presentation for renewal of most of the members of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly, insisting that it was in order and reward for a glorious performance.
The National President of the Association, Hon. Khalil Bello in a statement on Tuesday said it is in view of how the management board has worked to bring succour to the zone, that “we of KACRAN strongly commended Mr. President for reappointing most of the members of the Commission’s Management Board as Mr. President has resent their names for confirmation to the National Assembly.”
KACRAN also praised the President for the timely reconstitution of the NEDC Management Board, noting that it was a move in the right direction.
The group explained that this would go a long way to limit the forecasted hardship in the North East, noting that the United Nations had reported that over 4 million people in the North East could be impacted by poverty in 2023.
The NEDC, the group, said would help alleviate the hardship of the people of the area especially following from recent removal of fuel subsidy and subsequent increase in cost of living.
Bello said: “We people of North East deem it necessary to highly applaud President Tinubu reappointment of the members for another four year term to continue with their good work, it is a move in the right direction, because we are fully aware that, nearly all members of Governing Boards and Parastatals of federal government with the exception of very few have been dissolved by Mr. President in his bid to bring sanity in governance, which provided him with over 2000 vacancies ready for his Presidential blessings, but our is an unforgettable gesture.”
He added that: “We are of the view that, their reappointment will bring quick development and consolidation of their previous achievements for the fact that, they know where they stopped and where to continue from, contrary to appointment of fresh members who must start with feasibility study in order to know where to start, which is time and money consuming.”
Bello said “as a matter of utmost importance and going by the financial and economic incapacitation of our people mainly caused by the activities of insurgency and the untold sufferings/hunger that most of the people of the region are battling with, we of KACRAN strongly appeal to our Members of National Assembly to please expedite action on affirming the names under reference.
“We once again appeal to Mr President and our Vice President, Kashim Shettima to kindly involve NEDC in the intended federal and state governments move to introduce palliative that will reduce the hardship associated with the total removal of oil subsidy because they know where the people of grassroots are and going by their historical antecedent, they can easily and effectively provide palliative at the door step of our people.”

Villagers kill bandit in market attack, one resident also shot dead in Zamfara

One armed bandit was killed by residents during an attempted robbery in Bilbis village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, while another resident was fatally shot by the fleeing criminals.
Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday at about 1:45 p.m., when two armed bandits riding a motorcycle stormed the village market intending to rob phones from shops where they were being charged.
“The villagers resisted and confronted the bandits. In the ensuing scuffle, one of the bandits was killed, while the other escaped on the motorcycle, taking the rifle of the deceased bandit. The corpse of the dead bandit was left at the western outskirts of the village,” a community source said.
The source added that while the bandits attempted to retrieve their accomplice’s body, they intercepted and shot dead a 29-year-old villager, Amiru Sani, who was returning from his farm. His body was removed by relatives and buried according to Islamic rites.
Efforts are ongoing in the community to prevent possible reprisal attacks.

An adult man was killed and a 12-year-old boy kidnapped after unidentified armed men attacked cattle herders in Yankari bush, Alkaleri Local Government, on Sunday morning.
Alhaji Ibrahim of Kunkar village reported that at about 7:20 a.m., while his family members were tending to cattle, the assailants approached and demanded to know who was the son of the owner. During the confrontation, 35-year-old Adamu Ibrahim attempted to flee but was shot in the left leg.
The injured man was rushed to the Primary Health Centre in Gar, where he was pronounced dead. The assailants subsequently kidnapped Sule Ibrahim, aged 12, before fleeing the scene.
Local hunters and community members have intensified search efforts in the area to rescue the boy and apprehend the attackers. Investigations are ongoing.

Army troops foiled bandit attack in Dogon Awo village, one CJTF member injured

The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have repelled suspected armed bandit raid on Dogon Awo Village, Faskari, LGA in Katsina state on Sunday, though some cattle were rustled during the attack.
Zagazola Makama gathered that the troops backed by police personnel, local vigilantes, community security groups, and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) confronted the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into the forest.
While fleeing, the assailants stole a herd of cattle grazing at the village outskirts. In the pursuit, one CJTF member, Musa Abubakar, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, while four others remain missing.
Abubakar was rushed to the General Hospital, Funtua for treatment. Search and rescue operations for the missing members are ongoing.
