Kidnapping attempt foiled, two women rescued in Imo State

Two women, Mrs. Constance Chinwe Araoyinvo and Mrs. Olamide Akigbe, were kidnapped by armed men suspected to be members of IPOB/ESN on April 24, 2025, at Anara, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The victims were en route to Umulolo Obo Village for a bread purchase after a service of songs for their late father’s burial when the abduction occurred. The women were in a Honda vehicle at the time of the attack.
However, the situation took a positive turn when the Okigwe North Surveillance Team, led by the Acting Police Commissioner, acted swiftly. At approximately 0045hrs on April 25, 2025, the team successfully rescued the victims unharmed along the Umuahia-Okigwe Expressway, recovering their vehicle as well.
The women were safely escorted back to Isiala Mbano to rejoin their family in preparation for the burial. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
