Kwara Governor visits Kaiama to assess security situation

Kwara State Governor Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, accompanied by top security officials, visited Kaiama Local Government Area (LGA) on April 21, 2025, to assess the security situation in Kemeji and surrounding villages near the Kainji National Park.

The Governor, along with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Maj. Gen. O.G Onubugu, Commissioner of Police Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) Kwara, Michael Aganwu, Brigade Commander Sobi Brig. Gen. E.B Barkins, and other officials, held meetings with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kaiama, and local stakeholders.

The discussions focused on the current security challenges in the region, with attendance from the Chairmen of Kaiama and Baruten LGAs, members of the State Assembly, Commissioners, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, District Heads, and members of the Emirate Council of Baruten LGA.

The visit was deemed successful, with adequate security measures put in place. The Governor and his entourage departed for Ilorin at about 1700hrs.
